I love it here. So peaceful. The place is huge, so you can go multiple times and still have all kinds of places to visit. The roads are mostly all grave, so be prepared for that for your car. The place is extremely well maintained. There are out houses everywhere, but also actual bathrooms in the front next to the bait shop.
A truly great place. You experience a hardwood deciduous forest as you hike to bluffs that over look the Missouri river.
Very beautiful. Brought my grandchild. She loved it.
When I can July 1st and it was beautiful. Saw a few deer on the trail as well as many squirrels. I hiked about 8 Miles and really enjoyed it. Trails are in pretty good shape except for small patches with a lot of rocks. Bring plenty of water it's crazy hot and super humid!!!
Get ready for a hike! The Lost Valley short loop is about 8 miles and the full trail is a little over 10. It's not very steep overall, so it's not too tiring. We went in early April. There were a lot of spring flowers and water was gushing from the underground springs. Some of the views are spectacular. Make sure to look up at those views instead of focusing on the rocks you are trying not to trip over, lol! Have fun trying to find the hidden cemetary too!
The Lewis and Clark Trail is an 8 mile loop and has some great views as well as some very different ecohabitats to explore. This is one of my favorite trails in the St. Louis metro area some amazing views from the bluffs are the best part of the trail. There is a good amount of uphill climbing, but if you just want to experience the bluffs over the view of the Missouri, take the Lewis trail directly south to the river and then come back to the parking lot. It’s a mostly flat part to the trail and let’s you experience the view without the climb.
Great hiking trail closer to Chesterfield and adjoining the river. Parking space can be full on good days so plan to go early. Be on lookout for collection of mushrooms around the trail.
Beautiful fields of sunflowers, this is towards the end of their harvest but still a sight to see!!! Great day trip for the family for sure and photo op!
